The Chairperson plays a key role in helping Heath Massive Run Club run smoothly, stay true to its values, and continue to grow as a welcoming, supportive community.
This role is about guiding and supporting, not doing everything yourself.
What does the Chairperson do?
In simple terms, the Chairperson helps keep the club on track.
Key responsibilities include:

Chairing committee meetings (keeping things friendly, focused, and fair)

Supporting committee members in their roles

Helping the committee make collective decisions in the best interests of the club

Acting as a main point of contact where needed
-
Ensuring the club is run safely, inclusively, and in line with its constitution

Working closely with the Secretary, Treasurer, Welfare Officer, and Club President
You are not expected to do everything — the Chair works as part of a team and decisions are shared.
What skills or experience do I need?
You don’t need to be an expert or have done this before.
This role might suit you if you:

Are happy helping conversations stay constructive

Care about the club and its members
Support, guidance, and handover will be provided.
How much time does it involve?
We’re very mindful that everyone is a volunteer.
Typical commitment is:

Occasional emails or messages between meetings
On average, this is a few hours a month, and it’s flexible.

The Secretary plays a vital role in keeping Heath Massive Run Club running smoothly behind the scenes — without it being overwhelming or time-heavy.
This role is about keeping things clear and joined-up, not paperwork for paperwork’s sake.
What does the Secretary do?
The Secretary helps the committee stay organised and informed.
Key responsibilities include:

Preparing agendas for committee meetings (with the Chair)

Taking simple notes/minutes during meetings
-
Sharing actions and updates after meetings
-
Helping keep important club documents up to date
-
Acting as a central point for committee communications
You’re not expected to capture every word — just the key points and actions.
What skills or experience do I need?
You don’t need formal experience or a background in governance.
This role might suit you if you:

Are fairly organised

Don’t mind typing notes or emails

Like helping groups stay on the same page

Prefer structure and clarity
Templates, previous examples, and support will be provided.
How much time does it involve?
We’re very aware this is a volunteer role.

Good with basics and happy keeping an eye on things?
The Treasurer helps make sure Heath Massive Run Club’s finances are looked after properly, transparently, and sensibly.
This role is about oversight and reassurance, not accountancy exams or complex spreadsheets.
What does the Treasurer do?
The Treasurer helps the committee understand where the club stands financially.
Key responsibilities include:

Keeping track of the club’s income and spending

Maintaining simple financial records
-
Providing a clear financial update at committee meetings
-
Helping ensure money is used responsibly and in line with club decisions

Supporting preparation of an annual financial summary for members
You’re not expected to do this alone — systems are already in place and support will be provided.
What skills or experience do I need?
You don’t need to be an accountant.
This role might suit you if you:

Are comfortable with numbers at a basic level

Like things to balance and make sense

Are careful and trustworthy

How much time does it involve?
This role is designed to be realistic for a volunteer.

On average, this is a few hours a month, with a little extra time around year-end reporting.

The Female Welfare Officer plays an important role in helping Heath Massive Run Club remain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space, particularly for women and girls in the club.
This role is about support and signposting, not counselling or problem-solving everything yourself.
What does the Female Welfare Officer do?
The Female Welfare Officer is a trusted point of contact for members who may feel more comfortable speaking to a woman about sensitive or personal matters.
Key responsibilities include:

Being an approachable and confidential point of contact for female members
-
Supporting welfare, safeguarding, and wellbeing within the club
-
Listening and signposting concerns appropriately (not handling issues alone)
-
Working with the Welfare Officer, Chair, and Committee where needed
-
Helping promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive club culture
You are not expected to investigate or fix problems — your role is to listen, support, and escalate appropriately when required.
What skills or experience do I need?
You don’t need professional safeguarding or welfare experience (training and guidance will be provided).
This role may suit you if you:

Care about people feeling safe and included

Working alongside the Female Welfare Officer, Chair, and Committee

You are not expected to resolve issues yourself — concerns are handled through agreed safeguarding processes and with committee support.
